Punk rock...so what comes to mind when someone says that word? Do you think, the Clash, or just crap?! A lot of people don't know this, but punk rock originated from Great Britian. the Clash, the Ramones, David Bowie, the Sex Pistols, all introduced the world to punk rock. Now bands like Simple Plan, Story of the Year and ect., just play to fit into the so-called "punk" category. Thats not punk! There's a history behind punk rock. It may not appear right before your eyes, but read between the lines.

Punk rock...hmmm...what does that mean these days? Does it just mean going to the nearest Hot Topic and picking out some bondage pants and a rock t-shirt, or really living the real thing? Cause these days, I see people my age walking down the street and they have converse, bondage pants, and a rock t-shirt on. To me, that's not punk rock. Thats just throwing on some store-brand clothes and converse and saying,"I'm punk". Thats not what punk was a 3 decades ago. Three decades ago, punk rockers were wearing leather studded jackets, boots, and they were making their own clothes. I still see that today some of the time and i salute you that dress from three decades ago! LOL!!

So what about other bands? Like Nirvana for example. Kurt Cobain was a brilliant grunge icon/idol. He was respected for the music he made cause he wasn't just throwing in a whole handful of words and saying,"here. thats music." no he didn't do that because the music he made came from the heart and from the life he lived. The day he died shocked the nation and the grunge listeners. At the moment he died, he threw in the towel and said,"i can't do this any longer." and just decided he couldn't handle life. But he will be so much remembered and respected for the souls he touched and the music he made and sang.

Now bands like Simple Plan and Story of the Year and ect. probably won't go down in history. Thats just my theory. Now I'm not saying that their music isn't good enough, its just that maybe they should try having a life like Kurt's and commiting suicide in the end, then I'll say they can go down in history. But bottom line: No one will go down in history like Kurt Cobain did.
